Doctor Strange is one of Marvel’s most unique and complex characters. He has a deep understanding of the universe, with an unmatched ability to use the mystic arts. Here are 35 quotes from Doctor Strange that will help you understand his character better.
Time is a construct of man, not nature. -Dr. Strange
Doctor Strange is now widely regarded as one of the greatest MCU films. The film has gotten positive reviews from both fans and reviewers, who complimented Cumberbatch’s portrayal in particular.
Every movie is remembered for its quotations, and we’ve compiled a list of the 35 greatest lines from the Doctor Strange film in this post. Some are epic, others are amusing, some are profound… well, we have it all! Simply unwind and enjoy!
35. “Asshole, who’s laughing now?”
This remark, which illustrated Kaecilius’ abilities, demonstrated both how much Strange had to learn at the time and how strong Kaecilius was. Strange thought he had won when he trapped Kaecilius in a mirror realm, but Kaecilius responded that it was he who was laughing, and he was able to construct his own dimension from there. Strange’s plot failed, but Kaecilius was eventually defeated.
“Master Kaecilius,” says number 34. That ritual will only bring you grief.”
This is one of the opening lines in the film, and it describes how Kaecilius and the Ancient One got into a quarrel. Kaecilius’ desire for more power drove him to delve further into the magical arts’ darker regions, which inevitably led to a confrontation with the Ancient One. We all know how things turned out following Strange’s intervention, but this statement was crucial to the development of the film’s plot.
“No one could have done a better job.” 33.
This one ties up with quote #13 and shows Strange’s lack of humility. Strange, in particular, was involved in an accident that almost killed him or left him handicapped in the best-case scenario. His colleagues were able to rescue him and his arms, but he was unable to function, which irritated him. Christine Palmer attempted to convince him that no one could have done a greater job with his hands than he could, but Strange had other views (see #13).
32. “You made a wise decision. Once you’ve mastered the Eye of Agamotto’s abilities, you’ll put it on. It’s better not to stroll down the street with an Infinity Stone till then.”
Another hilarious scene from Wong and Strange. The Eye of Agamotto was an Infinity Stone, not simply a great relic. Strange chose to put it away because he was afraid of its power, which Wong thought was a good decision since it wouldn’t be acceptable for others to see him going about with an Infinity Stone on his chest. Of course, this may change in the future.
“Stephen,” says number 31. Everything revolves around you.”
Christine was invited to a dinner hosted by the Neurological Society. Strange is taken aback by her clever comment, as he had assumed she enjoyed attending such meals with him and that they had a good time. Christine said that he had had the most fun since all of the activities had revolved on him. Stephen attempted to explain that they weren’t only about him, but Christine responded with the statement we used.
“No, Stephen,” says number thirty. You don’t have a backbone.”
Mordo responded to Strange’s remark that he lacked creativity by saying that Strange lacked a spine. Mordo was first impressed by Strange’s conduct and even considered him a friend, but as Strange’s spine developed, along with his creativity, Mordo became more irritated with Strange’s actions, ultimately departing and swearing vengeance at the conclusion of the film.
29. “All right, don’t quit right now.”
“I’m defying nature’s rules.” “I understand.” Strange stated this to Wong as he used time travel to rescue and revive him. Wong, a staunch defender of natural laws, would have objected, but even he agreed that Strange shouldn’t stop now since his life was on the line. Wong has a one-nil advantage.
28. “I like the books and the terrifying tale, as well as the danger to my life.”
Strange was renowned for having a sardonic attitude, and his clever comments frequently made people chuckle. This is only one illustration of his personality, as he responded to what had occurred with a pretty funny remark that had to make our list.
27. “I struck a deal.”
Strange outwitted Dormammu and made a deal with him, a deal that Kaecilius didn’t appreciate in the end. “Well, it’s everything you’ve ever wanted,” Strange said. As a member of the One, eternal existence is possible. You’re not going to like it.” The catch was that Strange had made a deal with Dormammu to deceive Kaecilius, and he had succeeded.
“Try me, Beyoncé,” says number 26.
Strange makes another joke on Wong’s one-word moniker, comparing him to celebrities with one-word monikers (see quote #10). Strange had hoped that Wong had heard of the R&B singer, but all he got was a pause. He received a pause when he attempted to elicit a grin or laughing, and he simply went on.
“Study and practice,” says number 25. It’s been years.”
This was an excellent lesson. Strange was curious as to how he might study magic. “How did you manage to reconnect severed nerves and put a human spine back together bone by bone?” inquired the Ancient One. Strange responded with the quotation above. Strange, in fact, answered his own question in another mind-blowing encounter.
“You went into medicine to save one life above all others. It’s all yours.”
Another famous Ancient One quote, and yet another lesson for Strange. We had to include a bunch of them in this post since there were so many in this film. This was another another mind-blowing discovery that Strange’s ego had previously refused to accept.
23. “Don’t close the door on me. I don’t know where else to go…”
Strange eventually broke down, on the brink of tears, after being denied entry to Kamar-Taj. He begged the Ancient One to allow him enter, saying he had nowhere else to go and that was the whole truth. He was totally alone at this time of despair, and he had nowhere to turn. Fortunately, the Ancient One didn’t treat him badly.
22. “It’s simply tea… with a little honey,” says the narrator.
Strange’s spirit was separated from his body for the first time when he reached the astral realm. As a scientist, he automatically assumed he was on drugs since it was such a strange experience for him. Psylobicin? LSD? No, as the Ancient One said, it’s simply ordinary tea with a touch of honey.
21. “You’re a guy peering through a keyhole at the world. You’ve spent your whole life attempting to enlarge that keyhole… to learn more, to see more And now that you’ve heard it can be expanded in ways you can’t fathom, you’re dismissing the possibility.”
This one is linked to quote #7 and reflects the Ancient One’s perspective on life, rather than Strange’s. Life is intuition and a spiritual phenomena for her. As you’ll see, life is a scientific phenomena for Strange.
20. “I think the cautions should come before this spell.”
“Temporal manipulations may generate branches in time,” Mordo said. Dimensional apertures that are unstable. Paradoxes of space! There are time loops! Do you want to be trapped repeating the same moment over and over again for the rest of your life or never exist at all?” Strange responded with the quotation above. A lecture on the perils of certain spells. It’s also pretty amusing.
19. “Because I’ve finally realized what’s wrong with the world.” There are far too many sorcerers.”
The film’s conclusion. Strange’s deeds astounded Mordo so much that his traditional beliefs couldn’t handle it any longer. Someone would have to pay the price for breaking the natural rule. That is why he fled, but he will return to exact his vengeance.
18. “Oh, my God. So you become a member of a cult?”
Christine Palmer said another remarkable comment as she listened to Strange describe his adventures. Strange might have been much more passionate in his comments if the position had been reversed, but Christine was just funny. And it’s accurate.
17. “What gives life significance is death. To be aware that your days are limited. You have a limited amount of time. You’d think I’d be prepared after all this time. But take a peek at me. Just so I can see the snow, I’m stretching one minute into a thousand.”
This one must be linked to quotation #5 and Strange’s desire to become a sorcerer. This is a story about life, death, and how time passes. Even for the Ancient One, death is unavoidable, but she has figured out a method to slow down the process.
16. “Our demons never leave us, Mordo. Only by learning to live above them will we be able to survive.”
Mordo was the grade-school principal. A member of the class who is extremely cautious when it comes to magic. Even with all of his knowledge, he respected it, and he recognized that the man still had a lot to learn, including the lesson given to him by the Ancient One.
15. “Doctor, Mister?”
Strange meets Kaecilius. Two strong adversaries, a single battle, and a hilarious scenario that will go down in history The screenwriters did an excellent job with the wordplay in this sequence, and despite the fact that it was unrelated to the plot, it became very memorable.
14. “Have you seen it at a gift store before?”
This quote, which is related to #11, is Strange’s first encounter with the Ancient One’s powers. It was a strong performance, genuine and apparent, dispelling Strange’s suspicions that it was all a ruse. To find out what occurred next, read #11.
“I could have done a better job.”
This statement, like #33 before it, demonstrates the size of Strange’s ego. He was not thankful for his colleagues preserving his life and not turning him into a cripple; instead, he was enraged because he believed they had done a poor job and that he could have done it better.
12. “Mr. Strange, who are you in this wide Multiverse?”
This is the entire quote to give you the full context: “Do you believe you understand how the world works?” Do you believe our physical world is all there is? What is genuine? What secrets await you beyond your senses? Mind and matter collide at the very core of existence. Reality is shaped by our thoughts. This world is only one among an endless number of possibilities. There are endless worlds. Some are benign and provide life. Others were enraged by malice and hunger. Dark regions where ancient forces are hungry… and waiting.”
“Teach me,” says the eleventh.
A basic request. A straightforward denial. At the moment, Strange wasn’t prepared. He was awestruck by what he had seen, but he wasn’t ready to accept it. He saw it all as a game, unaware of the real profundity of the idea.
“Isn’t it just Wong? “Do you like Adele?”
“Or Aristotle, for that matter. Drake. Eminem… Bono.” Strange’s response to Wong’s name was this. It was amusing, particularly since Wong, the librarian, had no idea who these individuals were. Beyoncé was also significant at one time, as you can see.
9. “You can’t force a river to submit. You must submit to its stream and use its strength as if it were your own.”
“How can I control it by relinquishing it?” Strange said, “That doesn’t make any sense.” The Ancient One stated that not everything had to make sense and that he was a prisoner to his mind. He had to trust his instincts, which he did.
8. “People think in terms of good and evil while the actual adversary of all of us is time.”
Kaecilius believed he had discovered the true culprit: time. He said that time destroys everything. That is correct – you cannot really avoid the passage of time, but you may fool it, in his opinion. This is an example of comic book magic as well as a narrative point.
7. “You’re simply another little speck in an otherwise uninteresting universe.”
As you can see, many of the quotations here dealt with Strange’s ego as well as his perspective of life and other topics. He really questioned the Ancient One with this statement, stating, “No, I reject it because I do not believe in fairy tales like chakras, energy, or the power of believing.” There isn’t a thing called “spirit”! We are made up entirely of matter.” He ended with the phrase above.
“The Wi-Fi password,” says number six.
We’re not a bunch of savages! They aren’t, of course; they’re a group of well-educated, smart magicians, and although they have magic, they still need Wi-Fi. Strange mistook the phrase “Shambala” for a mantra when he first heard it, but it turned out to be the Wi-Fi password.
5. “We don’t get to pick when we want to accomplish things.”
Strange’s ego took a beating as a result of this life-and-death lesson. Sure, no one expects to die, but Stephen Strange wasn’t expecting anything terrible to happen to him. What made him think he was prepared for death? There’s a point to be made here, and the Ancient One stated it effectively (see #17), altering Strange’s perspective once again.
4. “It’s time to pay the bill. Always.”
Strange rescues the day, Wong is saved, and everything is great and lovely, right? Unless you ask Mordo, that is. Mordo was appalled that Strange defied natural law in order to rescue the day, and he chastised both him and the Ancient One for it before concluding with the following quote: “You think there would be no repercussions, Strange?” Is there no cost? We disobeyed our own rules, just as she did.”
3. “Set aside all you believe you know.”
New beginnings are often exciting, and for Stephen Strange, a scientist, witnessing magic was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. “I once stood in your place,” Mordo told him before this statement. And I, too, was discourteous. So, may I give you any suggestions?” You already know the advise.
2. “It has nothing to do with you.”
For Doctor Strange, a figure who had it all until his injury, there was a lesson to be learnt here. He had to return to being modest now that he had lost his primary instrument, which was difficult for him. The Ancient One clarified that it was not about him, saying, “Arrogance and fear still prevent you from learning the most basic and important lesson of all.”
1. “I’ve come to negotiate with Dormammu.”
This sequence was another example of Marvel’s comedic climaxes, in which Doctor Strange discovered that he could defeat Dormammu by putting him in an infinite loop, which tired the demonic creature and enabled Strange to make a deal to rescue the day.
Dr. Strange is a superhero and one of the most powerful beings in Marvel comics. He has been around since 1963 and has had many memorable quotes throughout his career. Reference: dr strange demons quote.
